Today I have a very special blog post for you. It features Mackenzie, a gorgeous and confident woman who was an absolute pleasure to photograph.

Mackenzie spoke with me last year when I did her family and extended families Christmas pictures. She was early in her pregnancy when we did them. She had actually just found out with her husband, Justin, the day before the photoshoot, that they were expecting a boy!!!!

Mackenzie and Justin are just so thrilled to welcome their baby boy into this world in June this year. They have decided to name him Abel Anthony. Aside from the biblical background of the name Abel, Anthony is Mackenzie’s Dad’s first name. Sadly, it just recently took on a double value when Justin’s childhood friend, Anthony, passed away suddenly. Mackenzie informed me that this is a way that they will always have a piece of him!

How cute is this couple!!!

Along with many women (and men) these days, Mackenzie is here in the states while Justin is deployed in Iraq. December 2016 was when he left, and will spend 9 months there. Nine long months while she grows AND delivers this baby.

When Justin comes home, he will be greeted by not only his loving wife, but his 3 month old son , Abel.           Ugh, I know, just let your tears flow.

Let’s get to this photoshoot, right?!
So, Mackenzie calls me and says, “Kim, milk bath, what do you think?” Ugh, sure, Mackenzie!!! I’m up for the challenge. And my first milk bath session was born. Here is a couple of that session.  It was so much fun.  I love the purity of this milk bath.

I asked her what advice she can give to other pregnant women who might be interested in a session like this…. She so honestly said “your feet will hurt and your back will ache with all those positions you get into!”

Hey, I’m not sure what is comfortable about pregnancy, so props to you Mackenzie for being such a good sport. She also told me that before her husband left for deployment, he would rub her feet and that made a world of difference because they’ve ached from the very beginning! Good man, Justin!!! Who doesn’t enjoy a good foot rub….especially when your pregnant!

After the milk bath, Mackenzie also brought a beautiful red dress which reminded her of Justin for round 2 of her maternity pictures. She said “ this dress reminds me of him and makes me feel as if a part of him is here with us.”

Makenzie brought a small American flag to the shoot as another sentiment of Justin. She explained to me that she isn’t looking for a certain look, just the beauty of pregnancy and also honoring Justin while he is away during this special time.

Goosebumps yet? I told you this was a special session!!

I really enjoyed having Mackenzie put her maternity photo needs in my hands.  I’ve enjoyed every second of it!  She is stunning and a joy to be around.

I wish Mackenzie, Justin and Abel a very happy and healthy year.  May God bless you in many more ways than he already has.
